For its second edition, the Biennale Son is proposing a special cultural mediation offer aimed at primary, secondary and post-compulsory schools in French-speaking Switzerland. The aim is to introduce pupils and students to the existence and place of sound in contemporary art, as well as to a Valais cultural event of international stature.
Through specialized guided tours and a creative workshop led by EDHEA graduate artists, the aim is to approach - in a popularized way and adapted to the target audience - the differences between sound in art and music, as well as to familiarize themselves with the artistic notions of multidisciplinarity, medium, intention, concept, representation, interpretation and expression. The role of art in life and society will be discussed and questioned, based on
the French-language syllabus, dialogue and exchange, with the aim of awakening the cultural curiosity and sensibilities of young visitors, fostering the construction of cultural references, stimulating their creative potential and exploring the different artistic and expressive languages possible.
For schools, the Biennale Son offers three cultural mediation activities adapted to the various school levels (primary, secondary, post-compulsory) and centred on a few works presented at La Centrale or the Sion Penitentiary:
1. tours without BS guides, based on the educational packs - cycle 1 / cycles 2 and 3 - (students must be accompanied)
2.Guided tours // 45 min per location
3.Guided tours + creative workshops (La Centrale) // 1h45
CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
Creative workshops led by artists Claire Frachebourg, Charlotte Olivieri and Romain Iannone will immerse students in an exploration of listening. Using recording equipment such as zooms, microphones and contact microphones, we'll listen carefully to the sounds that populate our environment. This approach invites us to experiment with our perceptions, paying particular attention to sound details.
By manipulating objects to create and listen to sound, we'll offer playful, creative experiments. Promoting a creative experience in contact with artists and professionals, these workshops are designed with a pedagogical perspective aimed at resonating our everyday lives and our imaginations. Each session will begin with a guided tour adapted to the different school levels of the participants, led by art historian Maéva Besse, to contextualize this enriching experience.
