Monocolor aka Marian Essl is an artist specializing in immersive audiovisual performances, in line with his interest in synesthesia and sensory perception. He explores the interaction between light, sound and space, creating captivating sensory experiences. His work, entirely generative and algorithmic, oscillates between fluid organic textures and rigid structures. In a minimalist, abstract style, he emphasizes geometric shapes, repetitive patterns and fluid transitions between visual and sonic elements.
His work has been presented in numerous contexts around the world. In 2020, he received the Japan Media Arts Festival's New Face Award for his immersive dome audiovisual performance Latent Space, created during a residency at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) in Montreal.
In 2024, he opens his major solo exhibition SCREEN-SPACE in Krems, Austria.
