Remixed version, created exclusively for the Biennale Son
Concert for the Biennale Son at the Caves du Manoir de Martigny
As part of the Nuit des Musées, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 10 pm
Inspired by the visual phenomena experienced when confronted with Blinky Palermo's abstract paintings in solid colors, Translucents explores the concept of "post-image sound". The piece unfolds a series of immersive sound scenes, where each stage is influenced by the trace left by the previous one. A perceptive game between memory, presence and temporality.
Emerging from the New York experimental music scene some fifteen years ago, and now based in Los Angeles, Byron Westbrook weaves complex soundscapes at the crossroads of installation, avant-garde electronic music and synthesis. He creates immersive, sculptural compositions to critical acclaim, with releases on labels such as Important Records, Root Strata, Hands In The Dark, Umor Rex and Ash International. His work has been presented at the Walker Art Center, ICA London, MOCA Los Angeles, MoMA PS1, MaerzMusik, Akousma, Rewire Festival, among others.
His latest release, Translucents, was released by Shelter Press in 2024.
